How the Internet Harms America

     Internet Gambling

It used to be that if you wanted to try your luck at gambling it usually involved a trip to Atlantic City, Las Vegas or to another country that prohibits the game of chance.  Now there is no need to go to the airport in search of such glamorous casinos.  Your poker room or sports book is as close as your pc or the nearest internet hook up.  Their are many problems involved in this increasingly large business known and internet gaming or gambling.  This has been an issue for some time and in even 1997 Senate passed the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act.  This act involves setting penalities for placing, receiving or otherwise making any wagers over the internet or any computer service in any U.S. state.  However state lotteries horse racing and even Jai-lai are exempt from these laws.  So far however the House of Representatives has failed to vote the bill into acting law.  So as of now internet gaming is a widespread and legal as ever.

(Above) A common promotion from one of countless internet gambling websites, intended to lure customers into potentially illegal games of chance.  This promotion offers a twenty percent bonus on a certain amount of a deposit to a particular site.  Such offers usually include restrictions and limitations that are difficult to find and may be misleading.
